Testimonials on the acid reflux vinegar procedure were shared by sixty three people from January to December 2012, and the results are summarized in the graph below:
The acid reflux vinegar procedure simply involves taking 2 or 3 teaspoons (10-15 ml) of apple cider vinegar in an 8 ounce glass of water, before meals or whenever heartburn is experienced.
This procedure was reported to effectively help reduce symptoms of acid reflux or heartburn attacks by 97% of users and:

I have had pressure and heart burn for years.
After waking up with the worst chest pain ever felt, I turned to the Web for a solution and it was ACV.
What would normally be a week or more of pain, was gone the next day. No more pressure, no more pain. I've been drinking it after I eat and before I go to bed.
I have had acid reflux for 12 years now. I take Nexium plus Zantack, morning and night. Still have acid reflux and my esophagus was swollen up.
I take 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. It helped with the acid also helped with the tumor in my throat. I can turn my head now.I was taking the over the counter medications and they seemed to stop working.
I searched the internet and came across ACV as a potential remedy. Last night I took it for the first time.
I had instant results. Slept well last night and got up and noticed that my mouth had a different taste (no doubt less acid flavor).
On day two and I feel much better than I have in years.
For those who drink it straight,,, don't! Always with food or water.
ACV is awesome. It has the closest PH balance our body needs to fix things. It is an acid but it calms other acids in our body.
For those suffering sudden heart attack like pains,,, could be your gallbladder,,,?
For those with a relaxed esophagus,,, chewing a good mint gum helps.. It keeps you swallowing and pushes stuff down also exercises the esophagus and strengthens it.
ACV and chewing gum! Remember that. And if you are out and get an attack with no ACV on hand, strong mint gum will calm the attack in the throat and push the fluid back down,,, might not calm a pain in the ribs tho since some said they have that also.
I have ACV in the kitchen, also have ACV pills on hand. That might help some of you. Still take them with water or a meal.
I am not a doctor, this is my very own research, tested results on my own body and experiences so use this info as you will and see a doctor when you know you should.
Hi Guys,
I have had digestive problems for years but never thought anything of it.
Years and years went by of taking OTC medications which helped but after a while enough was enough.
I went to see my gastro who said I had symptoms of GERD and put me on Omerprazole. I was on them for about a year but I started looking into natural remedies.
ACV was mentioned all the time so I bought a bottle of Braggs and had my first glass this morning.
All seems good at the moment and will be having two more glasses today.
Note from apple-cider-vinegar-benefits.com:
ACV should not be taken straight but always diluted with water or a fruit juice.
Just started ACV. Instant results.
Thank you all for sharing.
For the last 4 years I have taken Prilosec or Nexium....prescribed by my ENT doctor.
It is so expensive and has some bad side effects.
I heard about the vinegar treatment and decided I had nothing to lose. It worked immediately and after 3 days I lost my hoarseness I had been bothered with for nearly a year!
I used acv from the grocery that I had on hand and followed it with water or several swallows of butter milk.
Amazing! Amazing!
Started using it, small dose 1/2 teaspoon in 8oz glass of water. Great relief.
Will continue to use as needed. Definitely worth trying.
Be sure to wash you mouth after each use as it can weaken your tooth enamel.
WARNING! Don't take it straight!
I've had acid reflux for some time, had been on generic Prilosec, but a complementary med. Doc. said it was preventing mineral absorption. Tried an alternative, Pantoprazole, don't remember what that is generic for, but my cardiologist said it was interfering with Plavix! So I went back on Prilosec, (Omeprazole)!
I remembered having read in several places that vinegar actually helped. So tonight, because my stomach was upset, I decided to try it. I guess I hadn't read any of the articles through, and the radio stories never mentioned dilution, so I took a tiny sip, probably only a dash, of straight cider vinegar, and my throat seized up immediately. I could not get air, except a bit through explosive coughing! I seemed to be struggling for breath for a long time. Though I'm sure it was less than a minute, I was really frightened.
Now my whole esophagus feels burned. Milk helped sooth the immediate burning a bit, but I'll bet my throat is going to take a long time to heal.
I know, you'll say it was stupid, but I use a lot of vinegar on my salads, finish soups and vegetable stews with it, etc., so I was really unprepared for the violent reaction to such a tiny amount!
I just wanted to add this warning, in case there are others out there who don't read whole articles!I'd had several severe bouts during sleep where I'd wake and BOLT for the bathroom for water because it felt as though someone had poured battery acid down my throat as I slept.
Antacids didn't provide as much relief as I hoped.
Then in March, a persistent sore throat was accompanied by chronic hoarseness and I could no longer hit many notes when singing around the house, which, believe it or not, really cramped my enjoyment of the radio. I'm no singer, but suddenly not to be able to sing along with favorites from decades ago was really disappointing and I knew it was time for a medical diagnosis
The otorhinolaryngologist scoped me and immediately diagnosed acid reflux, putting me on Nexium. It took a couple of months for improvement, but I did improve, getting my range back and reducing the sore throats.
Then I read about proton pump inhibitor side effects, including those of Nexium.
I tried apple cider vinegar - without Nexium - and did not relapse. It's early yet, but I'm optimistic that I've weaned myself off the proton pump inhibitors and will handle this thing naturally, as well as cheaply.
This all started many years ago. I started to have acid reflux when I drank alcohol. The burns were unbearable. Over time it often started at night when I went to bed.
So initially, I consulted a doctor and he prescribed Pantoloc. Later, with another doctor, I tried Lozec.
With these drugs, I could sleep better but I did not want to spend my life taking these pills.
After several years I started choking from time to time when eating. But as time went by the problem became more serious.
I consulted a gastroenterologist who told me that everything was normal but I was choking more and more.
After doing a lot of research I came across this web site which talked about the benefits of apple cider vinegar, considering my situation I felt I had nothing to lose.
I tried ACV and WOW, it was really amazing. My reflux was reduced by 97% and I'm not choking any more. I take it before going to bed (2 tsp. in 8 ounces/235 ml of water at bedtime).
I have been taking apple cider vinegar for over two months now and I can tell you that it works perfectly. So much so that now I only take it when needed.
I thank God for having found such a helpful web site ...
I get the "heart attack" type symptoms and cannot tie when it occurs to anything in particular that I've eaten or done.
The pain is intense. It puts me to my knees. Apple cider vinegar in water takes the pain away beginning within seconds and the pain is completely gone within minutes.
I may start carrying a bottle in my briefcase!
I just finished reading everyone else's testimonials and I totally agree! I am so pleased to have found a natural cure to acid reflux!
For years, my GI docs prescribed Aciphex, Prilosec, Tagament and still I was getting heartburn even after brushing my teeth.
Always into alternative treatments I found DGL was helpful for a time before meals, buy that kind of stopped working for me too.
As a healthy individual over 60, I was diagnosed with oseteoporosis and read these proton acid blockers can actually decrease the calcium in your bones- hence, contributing to osteoporosis!
I needed to give ACV a chance. Lo and behold, it's been working for over 2 weeks now and I'm so pleased!!! I can even have a cup of coffee or some chocolate without having pain all night.
It really works for me!
Perhaps they should teach this "cure" in the medical schools!
This stuff is great.
I just drank an 8 oz water with 15ml of ACV and I can already tell the difference.
I've been suffering from GERD for about 6 years now. Recently it has become worse. I've been on Prilosec, Omeprazole, and tons of antacid's.
I had used ACV for nausea and I know it worked like a charm. One day I just took a spoonfull before eating and it felt so wonderful not to feel like I was about to throw up, bloat, or have aches. This really does work!
Note from apple-cider-vinegar-benefits.com:
– Apple cider vinegar should not be taken straight, but mixed with food (ex. as a salad dressing) or diluted in water, juice, tea, etc.
Well I got the worst bout of indigestion this past week with gas, bloating and heartburn.
I tried Prilosec, Tums, and Previcid to no avail. Then I called my fiance and he told me to try ACV. So I figured what the heck what can it hurt?
I have been using the ACV for 3 days now 2X per day and the relief is amazing. I am still having some bloating, gas and indigestion but the heartburn seems to be gone.
I feel better all over since I was in pain and the indigestion is less frequent so much better. I will continue to take this since I tend to have issues with indigestion because of foods.
I also have been on the bland food diet for 5 days so the both of them seem to be helping.
I am much happier taking a natural substance for my problem. Also I simply bought my ACV from the grocery store so the next bottle will be from a natural goods store instead to get even more benefits.
(Translated from French)
For over 10 years now I have suffered from GERD. For 2 years, I took 2 PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) per day.
On the edge of the surgery, I tried apple cider vinegar in April 2012, after reading this website.
The recurring pains were gone for 4 months. I slightly decreased the dose of vinegar and the GERD has restarted with, in addition, a loss of my voice and the same type of pain in my throat.
Am I condemned to live all my life with vinegar ???
I have been on acid reflux meds for well over 15 plus years.
My reflux was so bad that 4 to 5 times a week I was up in the night throwing up and that is when I told my endocrinologist what was going on and he told me it was acid reflux and put me on Aciphex and it help until the insurance company had me to change it and since then I have been on several acid reflux meds.
It has gotten so bad that I was taking my prescription Protonix in the am and at night I was taking the over the counter Omeprazole so that I could sleep with out acid reflux plus I had resorted to the recliner so that I would sleep elevated which help.
Then one evening I was reading about acid reflux and found that apple cider vinegar was being helpful in reducing the effects of acid reflux - I read all of the testimonials and decided I needed to run out and try ACV with water.
The results - YAY!!! I have NOT had a Protonix or Omeprazole or heartburn/acid reflux since Tuesday of this week!!! I have shared this info with my daughter and will share with anyone who suffers for acid reflux.
All I can say - GOD had to be using my fingers to type to lead me to this website!!! I am so excited - I have already shared with everyone I know!!!
I just had Bragg's ACV (2 tsps in a glass of water) 1 hr ago and I can already tell the difference. Burping is gone, I can breathe so much better and I feel great.
I'm 27 and I've had GERD for 8 yrs. I've been on all kinds of meds (Zantac, Nexium, Pantaloc, Tecta, Gaviscon) and only ACV worked instantly!!!!
I was going to opt for surgery but thank God for ACV, I probably won't need to!!!! This is the real deal.
Been fighting with reflux since I was a teenager.
Ate pizza yesterday, started "getting that feeling", took 1tbls ACV in 1/2 glass of water and bang..... gone within 3 min.
I took prescription drugs for years. I'm with others that posted here..... why will the doctors not tell people this????
Answer $$$$$ because YOU KNOW that THEY know it works.
Bottom line is AVC works.
I've been dealing with a lot of stomach issues for the last 6 months.
It started with esophageal spasms so bad I thought I was having a heart attack. After 3 hospital trips, numerous doctor visits, an endoscopy, and 2 months of prescription meds that made me drowsy, foggy, dizzy, didn't let me sleep, gave me horrible gas and bloating, and messed up my menstrual cycle, I am finally free of acid reflux.
I started taking the Bragg's ACV 2-3 times a day in small amounts. With the first dose I noticed a difference. Now, 5 days later I am still reflux-free.
I am 23 years old and I didn't want to be on meds my whole life, especially since they weren't even helping to begin with. I really don't trust doctors now. I'm still in awe that vinegar is helping my problem.
PROFESSIONAL SINGERS! I all but lost my career because of acid reflux.
I had no pain, no heartburn, but chronic hoarseness, and thought I had an on-going cold/sinus thing with drainage.
Not true. Many ENTs had no clue...or prescribed Prilosec, etc. with no result. Even got adult-onset asthma because of reflux. Finally a doc got me Nexium and it really worked. Have been taking it for 4 years.
But now I have added a tablespoon of ACV right before I sing and it helps any residual glitches.
I am going to start a regular regimen of ACV and see if I can get rid of super expensive Nexium.
I've had severe GERD for over 2 years. Even ended up having two heart caths because the chest pain was so severe.
The pain was so bad I seldom slept more than a couple hours at night. I was taking Zantac and Prilosec as well as Gaviscon with minimal relief.
I read about ACV 3 days ago and started taking 2 tablespoons 3 times a day.
Last night I slept a full 6 hours using only 1 pillow. I was pain free the whole time.
This is amazing, to think of all the money I wasted and how long I suffered needlessly.
I suffer from acid reflux for years.
I will never go to bed any more without a table spoon in 8 ounces of water.
No more acid reflux.
My father used to give me 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 tablespoons of honey and 8 ounces of water when I was a small child whenever I had a tummy ache.
I have used ACV to help with my acid reflux.
Tastes much better when mixed with the honey.
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is the best remedy I have found for reoccurring heartburn.
It works almost immediately and keeps it away for hours. I would recommend it to anyone suffering from heartburn. Not only is it an inexpensive cure it is also a healthy alternative to the horrible drugs people use to get rid of heartburn.
I ask you to try it only once and you will see how well it works and it will be your "go to", to stop heartburn for the rest of your life!!!
Having had scopes and medications and issues for many years I have suffered reflux not just from food but even sometimes brushing my teeth would set it off. Rarely would I sleep through the night and never would I wake refreshed. (snoring is almost eliminated also)
I've waited a week to post this thinking the treatment might have been a fluke but a week since my first tonic I am amazed!
I have had no issues, sleep like a rock, don't suffer from bending to tie my shoes and even washed the motorcycles in 90F heat with no issues.
Yes, I watch what I eat and drastically cut down on coffee, chocolate and tomato products and I am down 11 lbs in a week.
Feeling great thanks to ACV!!
Many thanks for the post…
After just a few days of drinking apple cider vinegar my acid reflux is already much better.
I mix 15ml acv to 45ml boiling water and sip slowly with each meal plus again at bedtime. (ie 4 times a day)
While perhaps not a complete cure for reflux in itself, acv allows me forget this problem. Unless of course, I eat lots of spicy foods.
I been suffering for years with acid reflux to the point where I would throw up after doing a sit-up.
Someone told me about ACV. Very skeptical, but desperate. I tried it and it works.
I mix 1 cap full with a 1/2 cup water. It's actually not that bad. Instantly worked. I've even been burping a bit and no acid is coming up.
I'm so excited. The ACV is working.
Good luck, Am.
It took me years to discover this. I was suffering from regular acid reflux as a kid, eventually pinning it down to sugary/soft drinks (make any sense?).
Treated any recurring bouts through my late teens/adolescence with a prescription and later over-the-counter Zantac. This was very effective but I found I came to rely on it, and when not using the problem seemed to be intensified. Moderate reactive use was helpful, however. Sucking on a Qik-Eze also saved me more than once and for a time I was never without a pack, should I need to pop one at the pub.
In my mid 20's I was experiencing strong reflux about once a week. I realised after a time that solid wheat products (like some breakfast cereals) were causing it, big-time. So I had something else to check off.
I would advise you adopt the old paddock-fencing approach. Take note of what you consume and see if you notice any recurring themes. Your trigger may be dietary, in which case - golden! Just avoid.
Traveling in Taiwan (ROC) I was offered a Hakka Chinese milkshakey-tea thing. Turns out it was packed with vinegar (they live off the stuff).
I got to reading about this bizarre habit, and of course the apple cider thing is all over the net. I was only remotely aware of some old-wives reflux cure, however.
The first time I took no more than a few caps full, with about 400ml of water. The effect was instantaneous. For me, it is pretty simple. I avoid the wheat cereals where possible, I rarely drink Coke and the like, and if I do encounter reflux, I knock it on the head with a generous dose of ACV and water (blocking my nose as it goes down, of course).
If you're going to try it out, perhaps don't do it on an empty stomach. If I recall, the Taiwanese were a bit iffy about that, and like I said - they're right into the stuff.
I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux two years ago. What had happened was I was out to eat and ate something that made me really sick. I had never felt like this before. My symptoms were severe chest pains and I couldn't breathe. I was just about to turn 20 at the time, so this didn't make any sense to me at all.
When I went to the doctor he gave me the surprising diagnosis of Acid Reflux and placed me on Prilosec. As someone who never goes to the doctor, I didn't really believe he was correct. I hadn't had anything like this before, and the medicine he gave me didn't work right away. This caused me to stop taking it because of how expensive it was.
My pain persisted and I talked to a friend of mine about it. She told me to take over the counter Prilosec and that I needed to let it kick in. Since she was an RN I decided to try it. I was desperate. After a while the pain stopped all together, so I continued to take the medicine. I didn't know there were any harmful effect from it and took it for two years until just recently when it stopped working. I started taking two a day, but the pain was still there. Then I decided to try Prevacid because I thought my body had become resistant to it. It seemed okay at first, but after eating some ice cream my pain was back worse than before. That made me decide to just stop using the medicines all together. I mean what's the point of using them if I'm in just as much pain with them as I am without them?
Since then, I've been trying to find different ways to make it better. The first day off the meds I was eating very small meals, and my stomach was feeling better until I made the dumb mistake of trying to eat pizza. I have been trying to eat very tiny meals, but I suppose I've made my body weak. I have been feeling dizzy and I can't focus. On top of that, my stomach has been constantly burning.
Tonight was the final straw. After a day of not being able to study for my exams because of my inability to focus on anything except my stomach, I caved in and used apple cider vinegar. I had tried to use it before when I was using the PPIs and my stomach only burned worse. Now however, it seems to have relieved some of the pressure off of my chest, and my stomach isn't hurting as much. I also am not belching as much as I was. I'm not sure if this is simply wishful thinking, or it is actually working.
I plan to continue taking this to see what happens. I'm praying that it will work and I can return to normal. I'm going to continue to make lifestyle choices because I know I need to lose weight and eat healthier. However, starving myself because I am in too much pain to eat is not the route I want to go.
I am going to log my journey each day for one week to see if there is an improvement. I'll be taking 3 teaspoons with 8 ounces of water for each meal and one at night. Once the week is up I will post them. I hope it will be beneficial to anyone suffering from this like I am. I also pray it works.
Like many other's comments posted, I have suffered as well from GERD for many years, have tried all sorts of medications both OTC and Rx.
I suffer to the point of nausea and vomiting that requires hospitalization.
Long story short, tonight, I am out of medications, desperate, and found the ACV. I am happy to report that it worked within 5 minutes.
Thank you for posting this information!
After many years of going to a gastroenterologist in Boston, the only remedy he offered was to take more meds such as Prilosec and Zantic. I was very hesitant to stay on the meds for long term fearing major side effects. I was on this regime for a little over six years and started getting head aches and feeling nauseous. Back to the Doctor again and he just recommend taking yet more meds.
A friend told me about natural cider vinegar, three times a day 1 tsp, I like to mix it with iced tea.
End of a very happy story is no more meds and I feel great after kissing heartburn good bye!
I too suffered from GERD for years, tied everything.
I was at the doctor today and heard someone telling another man about taking ACV for it. Ironically I had just bought some at the health food store to loose weight.
I had GERD tonight and decided to take a swig of ACV, then I took some honey after. I found out how pungent it was, "Wow".
I couldn't believe it, just like all these other testimonials......IT WORKS.
Yeah, hopefully, I can get off my Omeprazole, Maalox, etc!!! Yeah!!!
Hello,
I knew about ACV but I did not need to take any up until a few months ago when I started having acid reflux, oh the pain!
Since I have taken the ACV regularly for the past four weeks, the pain is gone! I continue to take some because they say it also has benefits for weight loss, and frankly, my food cravings have diminished for some time now.
Personally, I buy a Quebec product that comes from the Domaine Levasseur apple farm located in the Frelighsburg area, purchased from Rachelle-Bery. It is an artisanal ACV. The taste is good and the product is fresh.
I often wonder why doctors, who are supposed to help people heal, have not the courage to use other products instead of always prescribing drugs.
Good day!
Having had indigestion for 40 years like my father before me and my mother, I thought it was hereditary and just took the over the counter tablets as and when.
I used to get chest pains due the indigestion as well. In my late 50s I cut out eating bread and this helped. Greasy food would also set of indigestion. Bending over tying shoe laces could set of a reflux of acid. Tension would also bring it on.
Now after 62 years I was told of apple cider vinegar by my daughter. I gave it a go and hey presto it worked.
I put a small tea spoon full in a glass of water and have it before I eat. I even had a greasy cheese and onion pasty and was fine, that would normally require an indigestion tablet immediately after.
Drinking acid to stop acid seems wrong but it sure does work and it's not a drug with side effects .
If only I'd known about it years ago.
I have really bad breath as a result of acid reflux/GERD.
Did any of you suffer from this also and did the ACV help with this too?
Tonight I found this site and immediately went to Walmart to buy some ACV.
I am looking forward to the benefits you all have described here.
Acid Reflux Vinegar Treatment
Testimonial 26
My husband has been having acid reflux along with stomach troubles for a long time.
I read about the acv online, he tried it, and it has helped him tremendously.
I would recommend this for anyone to try.
I have suffered for 6 months with stomach pains and something I didn't know. I have been to my family doctor, went to see a specialist and also had a endoscopy done, with the diagnosis of GERD , hiatus hernia, acid reflux, and gastritis! A heck of a lot to deal with! I was devastated.
I was put on Nexium- which made me feel as though I was having a heart attack- so my doctor switched me to Omezopele-(prilosec) which gave me the same feeling- like my chest was caving in- and he then put me on Aciphex- which AGAIN did the same thing- by this time- I had another appointment to see my doctor, another 65 dollars and another prescription drug!
I just couldn't do it- my body and stomach were so bad and I was tired- so I went and bought over the counter Tagamet, which helped somewhat- but I haven't eaten greasy food- no caffeine and no more sodas or carbonated water- and nothing helped- so I found this website and went to the Braggs website- and ordered the mother ACV along with the drinks that were premixed up- at this point- spending 40 dollars was a drop in the bucket compared to what I have spent - and last night- I woke up at 4 am, thought I was dying- from the acid burn so bad in my throat and my chest and my stomach was killing me.
I guzzled a half bottle of Maaloz- as my ACV wasn't here yet- and this morning I got up and there was my shipment at my door. I opened it up immediately and poured in 3 teaspoons of ACV in a glass of water and guzzled it. At first when it hit my stomach- it hurt so bad- then after 5 minutes or so- the PAIN WAS GONE- THE ACID WAS GONE- I began to burp!!! I was burping air! Not juice!!
And let me tell you- this is the first time in months I have had relief- I brought a glass of water with 3 tsp ACV with me to work and have been sipping it all day and my stomach is feeling almost NORMAL again! Thank you Jesus Christ for this Bragg ACV and this website- I believe I am cured!!

I have been using unfiltered apple cider vinegar to treat acid reflux for months now with great success!
Also, for you coffee lovers who are tormented by the acids in coffee, I found a roasted grain product to use instead.
It tastes just like coffee but is made from whole grains, has no acid and no caffeine, and is a granular instant beverage product. It is called "Kaffree Roma", a product of Germany, distributed by Kellogg Sales Co. I have found it at health food stores and in the organic foods section of larger grocery stores.
I am 25 yrs old. I have suffered acid reflux for the past 4 months due to stress at work smoking, not eating properly.
I still remembered that frightful day exactly 1am, I had a sudden wake up, I was hardly breathing as if the acid was going up & up, my heartbeat was faster & faster. It was like a heart attack! It was like as if taking your life away, seriously! My sister called an ambulance, ambulance arrived, asked me questions and ended up telling my mom & sister that it was not a serious case as I was having Hypertension.
Quite funny when they told me that & I was hardly breathing at that point of time! Went to the ER, took all the tests & doc informed that I was totally fine. This was due to stress & hypertension.
However, after days went by, I felt like a lump or burning sensation in my throat, not able to swallow food, a few times felt like choking..! It was really a "test" to me to undergo these kinds of situations but I know God has His own ways in dealing with us. Whatever it is I will always have faith in Allah (God) & just be patience.
After that incident, the miracle was, the next day I completely stopped smoking! Which is GOOD as I will be getting married this Dec! Now, I eat 3 times a day breakfast, lunch & dinner! As I was usually not a breakfast person & skipped meals a lot of time. if you ever heard about Herbalife products, they are nutritional meal replacement & I took aloe for "cleanser" digestion. After having this for about 2 weeks, it did help me. I was able to at least swallow my food.
Due to stress in my working environment, I resigned from the company. I decided to take a rest & find a suitable job. Just chill out!
My acid reflux was maintained until yesterday when I actually accidentally ate garlic & had a sleepless night! I know we can’t take spicy food, for me seafood as well like prawn shrimps, tomatoes.
I came across this website on ACV & today before bed time I have taken 1tbsp with 8oz of warm water (but I think taken with honey is much more soothing), & actually I feel a bit better ..:) it releases some pressure "off" my chest & clears bit in my throat..:) I will continue this remedy & it does help one way or another.. As well as the Herbalife nutritional meal replacement products!
Thank you all for sharing this remedy! Have a good night sleep! Zzzzzz
My husband takes Nexium for acid reflux.
For the past several months he has felt horrible in the mornings (belching acid, sick feeling, etc.).
I read about the use of Apple Cider Vinegar last week. He started drinking it on April 4, 2012, (3 tsp in 8 oz water) before each meal. After 2 days he feels like a new person.
This really works. We are amazed!
I've suffered from GERD for years now. After having a GI scope, I was told by my doctor that I have some of the most insane stomach acid he has ever seen. I get pain in my throat and the constant feeling of reflux. Here is what has helped me:
1. Daily - Prilosec, Tums, Maalox
2. Sleep propped up
3. Cut out coffee as much as possible (coffee is one of the worst things for me and causes severe reflux)
4. Use Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar 2x (morning, evening) - The key is that you must use the vinegar regularly for a couple weeks to start seeing best results.
5. Prevention! Learning how to balance PH and keep the body (and stomach) from becoming too acidic.
Best of luck to all of you that suffer from reflux. I've been fighting this thing for 20 years now and can say that prevention and staying committed to the methods above really work best.
GERD or acid reflux is caused by too little acid. This causes your Lower esophageal sphincter to open releasing what acid is in your stomach to go down your throat. ACV normalizes the acid pH & adds other goodies into the mix.
I woke up this morning with the most painful experience of a throat full of burning acid. It terrified me as I've never woken out of a deep sleep feeling like I was going to suffocate from the acid.
Couldn't go back to sleep anyway as i could feel the burning. Knew about ACV & have a bottle of Bragg's on hand just had a teaspoon in a glass of water I really like the taste. Feels wonderful. Also organic sauerkraut is wonderful for this as well (only made with salt & cabbage not vinegar).
As someone said elsewhere its a travesty that doctors are giving PPI expensive drugs to stop acid which stuffs up their bodies when it's the opposite reason they're having the problem. The drug companies are laughing all the way to the bank!
I turn 50 this year and I can't really remember a time in my life that I didn't have heartburn.
As a teenager, I continually ate Tums. As an adult, it grew worse with time. Pregnancies (4) were a nightmare.
After moving to Canada 13 years ago, I finally talked to my Dr. about it. She put me on Ranitidine which worked for some time, and then one day, just stopped working altogether. She changed me to Pantoloc which I have probably been on for the last 9 years.
Recently, I have had to once again rely on Tums to get through my days and especially my nights.
Over the years, I have had episodes so bad it caused me to vomit and I considered going to an emergency room for the pain in my throat. I have told people that it can get so bad I could imagine being suicidal. it seems so ridiculous to have so much pain from "heartburn".
I have had an endoscopy which showed a hiatal hernia but the solution seems to be keep taking the Pantoloc.
I am currently being tested for bouts of diarrhea that come out of nowhere and last a day. So far, no explanation.
After going on a cruise with my sister recently, and she observed my crazy system of I can't eat this and that, and seriously had to worry about any intake of alcohol, she called to tell me she read that the kind of drugs I take can cause diarrhea after taking them for a length of time and that she also read vinegar will get rid of heartburn. She said the article read that even pickle juice would do the trick. Unfortunately, I didn't get that I would have to not take my meds to see the effect. I didn't give it much effort.
Last week, Dr. Oz had a gentleman on who talked about the ACV and how quickly and why it works. I went to the health food store and bought Braggs.
I actually have felt stressed about not taking my Pantoloc because of the fear of heartburn with a vengeance. I'm happy to report that today is day 3 of no meds! I am drinking the ACV 3 times a day and once before bed. I am getting more comfortable with it but I really had anxiety. I did have too much coffee today and had to pop a couple of Tums but still can't believe this! I just pray this is long term now. Thank God for the Internet and all this information!
I just had one of the worst acid reflux attacks I have ever had...it felt like a sword had gone through my chest and I was really getting worried.
I took one of the generic brand acid reducers I always carry in my briefcase but it wasn't working, at least quickly enough.
My girlfriend Googled remedies and found this page...two sips of apple cider vinegar about 15 minutes apart completely improved my condition.
Worked so well I felt obligated to post for the next person's benefit.

I didn't learn about apple cider vinegar on this site but I wanted to help spread the word.
I've had acid reflux disorder for more than 12 years now. I've been on EVERY medication known to man, both prescription and over the counter and nothing has worked longer than a few days.
I'm a heating technician and was servicing a customers heating equipment and during the course of our conversation he noticed I was clutching at my chest. I assured him that it was reflux and not a heart attack. He then told me about taking Bragg's twice a day.
It's been 2 weeks since I've started taking it and have had only one minor bout of heartburn after eating Mexican food. It has been a miracle and I cant say enough about vinegar!! If you suffer like I do, Please give it a try!
I have suffered from GERD for at least 15 years and have been taking Prilosec daily for at least 12 years. I have undergone the endoscopy a couple times to confirm that I do not have Barrets Esophagus.
I am now in my mid 40's. The effectiveness of Prilosec has worn off over the years to the point now that it only prevents the extreme burning and stabbing sensation I get on the left side of my rib cage. (The doctors do not know exactly why I have the pain in my ribs but it is definitely related to the GERD issue.)
At this time, even with Prilosec I have some pain and discomfort throughout the day including heartburn, "heart attack" pain, bloated stomach, and I always have a hoarse voice.
Before I started taking Prilosec I was always clearing my throat, which was very annoying to myself and those around me. With Prilosec, the throat clearing was drastically reduced but it is starting to come back more and more. Lastly, I would have two or three severe episodes each year where I would throw up and could not lie down. I have been at wits end for many years now knowing the medications are not really working anymore and I am concerned about the long term effects as I am getting older.
With that I have decided to try the ACV treatment. I am on my third day now. I stopped taking my morning Prilosec and have drunk the ACV tonic in the mornings, before lunch, and before dinner.
Unfortunately, I am not seeing the dramatic miracle results the others have claimed. I am back to clearing my throat a lot and I feel the burning in my ribs starting to return. I will say that all the symptoms have not come roaring back which usually happens within a day of stopping the Prilosec. So I am hopeful that this is some sort of transition period I am experiencing.
I am going to tough out the symptoms and keep up the ACV for as long as possible. I hope that it becomes more effective. I am curious if others have had similar experiences. I pray this works.
After having sour mouth (no heart burn or any other symptom typical of acid reflux) for months decided to see doctor.
After tests and endoscopy I was told my LES is relaxed and was diagnosed with GERD and Barret's Oesophagus in Nov 2011.
Now on Omeprazole 40mg daily which provided relief for couple of months. Then sour mouth returned back and I am worried it may further damage my oesophagus. We are trying to start family so my gastroenterologist advised to stop Omeprazole and take Tums as required.
Would like to know if ACV is beneficial in LES related reflux, does it help with Barret's, is it safe while trying to conceive or during pregnancy.
Thank you!
I had acid reflux for almost 2 years due to stress.
Medications didn't work. White apple cider vinegar "with the mother" did!
And I am now heartburn free! :) I found it didn't work during pregnancy related heartburn though. ;)
Hello,
I will begin by thanking the all merciful God for guiding me to your site and thanking everyone who contributed in one way or another in the sharing of this information.
I have had a problem with GERD for eight months, and I regularly consulted a gastroenterologist who did all the exams. He prescribed sodium bicarbonate that worked initially but had no effect a few weeks later. Then he gave me a prescription for Omeprazole, which helped me for two weeks or so, then became ineffective.
After treatment with Omeprazole my symptoms worsened for months.
Last week I saw a gastroenterologist who again told me I had to take antacids all my life like most people who suffer with this disease. He also told me that there was a last resort operation and that the latter was not recommended either.
I left the hospital last week very frustrated with the order of Omeprazole that the doctor had prescribed for me. I took it that day but the next day, I decided to seek a solution other than taking antacids all my life.
That's when I searched Google for natural solutions against reflux and I came across your site.
The same night I bought a bottle of apple cider vinegar and I started taking it with water.
I had a great night because it had been months since I had slept properly because of my reflux.
Now I take a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar diluted in half a glass of water, in the evening before dinner and it works perfectly by the grace of God.
Thank you all.
I have had Acid reflux now for the last 3-4 years, when I was younger 21-22 years old I could handle it. I am almost 25 now and I still have this issue.
I heard about ACV a while back and tried it and wow presto... heartburn gone.
What a relief and amazing natural cure.
I had been experiencing chronic acid reflux for several months. These episodes would typically wake me up in the middle of the night with ferocious stomach and back pains that would last for hours.
After a visit to the doctor I started taking Prilosec and Maalox. The Prilosec upset my stomach. The only thing that worked was Maalox.
The excruciatingly painful reflux pains continued and would last longer and longer.
I have been using Apple Cider Vinegar for the last sixteen days and it is miraculous. The ACV relieves the pain, bloating and general discomfort.
Once or twice when I had some slight pains I took a small swig of ACV straight and it instantly relieved the pains.
Generally, I drink two or three tablespoons with 8 ounces of water before meals and before bed. I also use Bragg's it has a lot of apple pulp in it.
So far ACV has been a great savior in curing Acid Reflux. Maalox was like a band-aid it never solved the problem and became less and less effective each use.
I would highly recommend Apple Cider Vinegar. It has been extremely effective in treating Acid Reflux.
Thank the good Lord I too stumbled upon the website for ACV.
Had all the tests done, endoscopy, colonoscopy and even an intestinal transit study which swelled my stomach up being full of pink sludge, such discomfort I experienced, like many others they found hiatus hernia, gastritis etc and I was prescribed the usual meds.
They were quite successful but I have always preferred not to be on meds in the long term so now I am taking the ACV organic in water, sipping through the day and I am finding it perfect for me and my stomach.
I would recommend this treatment highly to all who need a natural alternative. Tell your doctors also, they need to have the feedback.
I was hospitalized for GERD in 2009. I was given Omeprazole and took it for 2 months until I decided I didn't want to take drugs anymore.
I searched the net for a natural home remedy for acid reflux and was amazed at the vast number of testimonies I read about ACV.
I stopped taking Omeprazole and started a tablespoon of ACV (I use Bragg, it's organic). I take this everyday now, first thing in the morning. Mine is mixed with honey to neutralize the taste.
I still get acid reflux every once in a while but it only happens when I eat super spicy food or drink more than 2 cups of coffee in a day.
Nothing beats a natural remedy for acid reflux.
I am a Canadian expat teaching martial arts in Taiwan. I have a healthy lifestyle except I love junk food, fried chicken and Italian food and so on.
A couple of years ago I started getting acid reflux (Gerd) symptoms like a hoarse throat, heartburn and eventually even my teeth were breaking in my mouth.
I went to the doctor and they prescribed Nexium and Mosapride Citrate for it. After taking it for two years I still wake up early in the morning with symptoms.
Finally one of my students mentioned eating pickles or taking vinegar so I went out and bought a bottle.
This morning I woke up had that sour taste in my mouth and went to the kitchen and swallowed a mouthful of vinegar and bang just like that the sour taste went away and I can feel great.
It's like my breath and stomach are back to normal.
I had a lot of problems, my stomach, reflux, hot burning. I used a lot of medication to control my problem but medication did not work.
Medication destroyed my good bacteria and I could not tolerate milk.
Alright so I've been on Nexium for three years. 80 mg a day at one point. I have been off a full 3 days now.
Today, the acid reflux started coming up again. Every other time, once it started it got worse and worse until I couldn't take it, I'd go back on the pills. I read to take ACV on here so after time of lamenting and procrastinating i finally did it.
Although I have felt little bits through the day, after taking 2 tbsp in water it goes away for hours on end. i had three doses and will take another one before bed. This stuff tastes terrible, yes, but it's worth it. It actually works. I enjoyed 4 hours of complete relief I wanted to like cry or something haha.
This is not a total cure right off the bat but it helps! I also read over time you can stop taking it and your body will have healed.
Coming off PPI's you get terrible rebound and the fact this is helping speaks volumes. This would suggest it works because the LES is PH sensitive, and the acid helps it to close up. I had to come back here to comment because honestly I am so blown away...there is no way scientists haven't realized that low acid is the majority issue with heartburn sufferers...starting to think they don't care as long as they get our $$.
Have suffered with acid reflux for 12 or more years.
When it first started I checked my symptoms on the internet, worked out what I had, so I went to the doctor and told him I had acid reflux.
He was annoyed that I had self-diagnosed and prescribed Cimetidine. "How long should I take them for?" I said. "The rest of your life" he said. "Aren't these just going to stop my stomach acid doing what it's supposed to do?" I said. "Don't ask too many questions" he said.
The pills had little effect and I only took them when the pain kept me up all night.
I came across this site a couple of days ago and dashed off to Tesco to get some cider vinegar. Within hours my stomach returned to the state it was in 12 years ago. I can't believe I'm cured!
Looking forward to trying foods I've avoided all these years - flaky pastry, fish and chips, stodgy beef suet puddings! Yippee! Thanks so much and thank heavens for the internet.
Now all I need to cure is a 6 year fungal toenail that my doc can't help with! Maybe I should dip it in Cider Vinegar???
Apple-cider-vinegar-benefits.com – Apple cider vinegar is great for removing nail fungus; moreover, it is nontoxic, unlike the majority of drugs prescribed for this problem. However, healing is not instantaneous; it is achieved gradually, with regrowth of the nail. It also requires that one rigorously follows the treatment: do it EVERY day, making two applications daily. For more information, see our vinegar nail fungus page.

Feeling hopeless as Nexium seems not to work anymore.
Have started on ACV yesterday and got a lot better today. Tomorrow I hope reflux will totally go away.
Thanks to all those who shared their experiences here.

I have had severe GERD for years. It almost caused cancer in my esophagus. To stop it, my esophagus was removed in 2006. My stomach is sewn directly to my throat.
This has messed up my digestion thoroughly and did not stop the GERD and intensified it as the reflux goes directly from my stomach to my throat.
About 4 months ago, my daughter had me try 500 mg apple cider vinegar capsules and it has changed my life. I take 5 at bedtime and 5 in the morning. The capsules have no flavor and are easy to swallow. I also add a tablespoon of ACV along with two Stevia packets to my water bottle and drink throughout the day.
The ACV has stopped the reflux completely.
I wish I had known about this 30 years ago as it would have changed my life.
If you are having trouble with the liquid ACV, try the capsules. They are readily available on the Internet, or at health food outlets.Name:
