ACV foot soak on farrier recommendation

My story is only beginning. I purchased a horse with lameness issues and involved my natural barefoot farrier in treating him.
The horse has one hoof that is contracted on one side, appearing to have had an injury and maybe kept shod because of that, limiting the ability of the hoof to grow and normalize.
My farrier took off a small amount of heel to start the natural barefoot corrections, and advised me to daily soak the foot in acv, which I am doing using a hoof boot.
In addition I started the horse on a supplement with a good history of helping hoof problems, including navicular. I don't know if this horse has navicular, but am treating him as though he does.
