Hi. I searched the Internet to find some help with bad stomach acid.
I am 35, non smoker and a very rare drinker. I eat some rubbish junk food more than I should but that's about it.
I was taking Nexium for a short while as my doctor gave me Naproxen for a bad back which stripped the lining off my stomach and made me feel really sick every day.
After reading lots of people's comments on this site I have decided to give AVC a go.
If you'r like me and hate taking pills which is all doctors seem to give you, instead of maybe taking some time to listen to how you feel and looking properly at your medical history, then this is worth a go.
Best of luck to everybody.
Guys, I love all of you for giving me courage and the mental support to trust on ACV.
For 5 years I have been staying in Malaysia to study, this time I came to attend in convo and suddenly felt sick with extreme reflux that made me the most helpless person on earth.
I kept having Pantoprazol, Renitidine and other antacids since 5 days. Went to emergency unit in the university hospital and largest public hospital in this country. They kept giving me injections, medicine and nebulizer.
But nothing can give permanent remedy. I got sick every single day though having medicine.
I looked 2 nights ago in websites about ACV and felt like trying it.
I tried ACV (Heinz Brand) yesterday, but vomited out everything, so I did not feel the results of the vinegar.
Tonight I felt choking again and read each of your comments, I tried ACV diluted with honey and water and can breathe well now.
I am ready to go to sleep I feel. I hope this will give me a permanent remedy.
Thanks to GOD for giving me the right direction.
I have just had my first dose of ACV.
Could not stomach it in cold water so made hot mugful of the ACV with a teaspoon of Manuka honey.
It was quite pleasant and if it does the trick will be on my list of alternatives to coffee (I currently drink about 4 cups a day).
Here's hoping.....watch this space.
Take 2 cups of apple cider Vinegar, two cups of honey and one tablespoon of grated fresh ginger.
Reduce for about an hour at full boil. Strain liquid through a sieve and bottle.
Take two tablespoons every morning and you will clear up your acid reflux problems in a week.
Make sure you do not drink coffee or alcohol and eat lots of vegetables.
I experienced severe heartburn with my first pregnancy and now with expecting baby #2 it is worse than ever.
Postpartum it wasn't as bad but still an issue, I had many tests done but no diagnosis was found. Sometimes it is so bad that I feel like I'm either having a heart attack or need to vomit to relieve the acid.
Antacids provided some relief but the acid would soon return with a vengeance.
I used to drink apple cider vinegar in warm water all the time and forget why I stopped!
Thank goodness my friend recently recommended taking a tablespoon straight up followed immediately by a glass of water. It burned like hell the first time I took it but worked immediately. I miraculously had relief of symptoms for over 24 hours.
I will definitely be incorporating ACV into my daily diet again, and am thrilled to have a natural remedy that works. I was so amazed at how effective the ACV was that I came on this site to learn more about how and why it works.
Acid reflux runs in my family. My Dad nearly died from an ulcer that perforated his stomach. This was in the days when few options were available. An older brother had his vagas nerve cut to stop excess acid. I decided to write this after 10 months using ACV.
I was on anti=acids and proton inhibitors for over 15 years. You name it; Gavison, Malox, Zantag, protonix, nexium, and dexilant to name a few. I declared war on my GERD and took all the tests, including four endoscopies, manometry and ph probe, h-pylori evaluation, x-ray/barium swallow, MRI, ultra sound, Papada test, and, in the meantime, losing 20 lbs. from pain and angst .
At one point, I almost had my gall bladder removed. In addition, the nausea from Prilosec (a side effect no one mentioned) was debilitating.
Since I'm in my seventies, travel and quality of life were affected. Even a specialist from a well-known university could not find relevant answers.
After finding few solutions from physicians, I found ACV on this site, and, with much courage, tried it for three days (2 tsp of Bragg) before each meal. Finally, relief! I decided to go off all meds, and here I am, feeling great and gaining weight.
I'm still concerned about a hiatal hernia which allows acid to back up under the diaphragm from a stomach bulge. I'm 100% better, but information from readers would be appreciated. It would also be helpful if anyone has heard of research, including blind studies, on this simple remedy for a terrible disease.
Dexilant didn't do anything, and Nexium only worked slightly, while making me constantly fatigued and hungry, and it made my jaw clench, and my restless legs syndrome intense.
Not to mention it made me feel weird as hell.
Anyways, I've been taking two table spoon of ACV thrice a day for the past few days and it's been working, but not completely. Maybe I just have to to keep at it?
Maybe I have an ulcer, it kind of feels like I have heartburn a little too low in my torso sometimes.
I can attest to the efficacy of apple cider vinegar for reflux.
I used to take various combinations of Omeprazole, Ranitidine, Famotidine, Gaviscon, and Tums to keep my reflux at bay.
At some point on any given day I had to take at least one of these. Now, at first sign (usually about 15 minutes after eating), I take 1-2 tsp of vinegar (I currently use unpasteurized and unfiltered) in about 2 ounces of water. I am careful to keep it off my teeth as much as possible and to rinse with and drink fresh water after.
This has truly worked. I no longer take any of those meds. On the rare occasion, I will have 2 Tums before bed.
All you need to do is try it to see if it works.
Thank you for sharing. All your sharing helped me heal. Thank you!
For 2 months, during my summer vacation, I have been having difficulty breathing at night. I would wake up with closed throat, gasping for air. I ended up being afraid of sleeping or sleeping sitting ..so uncomfortable.
The first doctor did Asthma tests and Apnea tests and decided it's anxiety. Finally I figured it out and went to the hospital to check my stomach. I had h pyori so I was on 2 antibiotics for 10 days.
The first 5 days were horrible, specially day 4. My sleep disorder worsened. I felt weak, confused and my memory became very weak probably from lack of sleep.
Day 5 or 6 on antibiotics I felt something changed, I was able to sleep a bit. Only my stomach felt worst because of antibiotics. I started taking organic or bio-live yogurt to heal my stomach, that helped.
After I finished the 10 days, I realized I do have acid reflux. Meanwhile I lost 2 more Kg but now I feel acid in the evening. So I read about ACV which I have used before.
I bought organic ACV and I took one table spoon in a glass in the morning and in the evening about 30 min before I ate. Improvements were felt immediately and after 3 days I slept well. Great!
I still have a sensitive stomach and black stools?!?
It has been 10 days since I finished the antibiotics. Now I hope the black stools will change color :). else I need to see why I still have them. Hope nothing serious.
Take care all, blessings, may you all be very healthy and happy!
I had been researching the detox effects of ACV, and decided to start drinking some to clear up my acne.
I did not even think about it for my acid reflux, which gets pretty bad overnight.
To my surprise the ACV instantly and completely relived my heartburn. If I drank a tablespoon before bed, I'd have no pain through the night.
It tastes disgusting, but really helps! Better than any of the meds I've been prescribed. Also, my ACV is not organic and still works great.
If you want to be able to actually sleep through the night, try this!
Add my voice to the growing chorus.. Apple Cider Vinegar is for real!
Suffered from GERD for years and was taking two (at times three) Ompeprazole pills a day with mediocre results. After several years, the problem dissipated but when it recently struck again worse than ever and the Omeprazole wasn't helping, I decided to try ACV.
Within two days, my horrific symptoms were 75% better. Within a week, they were basically gone.
It's a month later and my dose of ACV is now just a teaspoon every couple days (or whenever I get a hint of GERD) and it is remarkably effective.
I wish I'd tried ACV years ago because Prilosec / Nexium / Omeprazole was fairly expensive back then and because of my extended use of it, now I am at increased risk for a bone / hip fracture later in life.
I urge you to give ACV a try for a week... it has no side effects, is dirt cheap and I bet it solves the problem. Just remember to rinse out or brush your teeth after!
I had horrible acid reflux for about 3 months, daily.
I was skeptical about the ACV helping but within one week my acid reflux stopped.
After a week of doing it 3 times a day, my acid reflux stopped and I haven't had to take any ACV in the last week. I did it 30 minutes before a meal.
I used the organic Bragg brand, and doing a little stronger dosage seemed to help me better, but thats just me.
ACV is utterly brilliant! Have been drinking it for over 3 weeks now and it has given me great relief from acid reflux.
I have been suffering from reflux for 15 years and have been taking Nexium as required.
I would vomit alter eating and drinking, be gasping for air and have watery eyes from all the coughing I did. It was bad after brushing my teeth and laying in bed at night. Have had a number of endoscopies over the years with nothing abnormal.
My doctor was prescribing me with nasal sprays and puffers and believed it was a combination of allergies, mild asthma and acid reflux. This was becoming a joke and very costly.
I started looking at natural medicine and came across Apple Cider Vinegar. I bought a bottle from my local supermarket and thought I would try it out and it has given me amazing relief. I mix it with water in a large bottle and sip on it during the day. It doesn't taste that great but will quickly get use to it. I started off mixing it with apple juice or cranberry juice the first week and have gradually changed to water.
It took around 3 days to really kick in and work for me. Amazing stuff.
More research should be done on this amazing liquid.
I started having reflux problems 3 years ago.
Since 1970, I have been treated for GERD.
I underwent two hiatal hernia operations with closure of the cardia; I can not vomit anymore, and when the need arises, I pass out.
I heard about apple cider vinegar on TV, and I searched the internet.
I bought organic apple cider vinegar and honey. 30 minutes before each meal, I take a coffee spoon (5 ml) of vinegar with a little honey in half a glass of water.
I no longer have GERD. I no longer have a burning or scraping throat and, as I sing (soprano), that brought me instant gratification.
All of these: Maalox, Gaviscon, Mopral and similar drugs, not only didn't help, they triggered seizures. But I was able to trust apple cider vinegar.
It has been 3 weeks since I started this "treatment" and I will probably continue for a very long time. If you have a hiatal hernia, do not have surgery, it will aggravate the symptoms.
Ever wonder why doctors do not talk about this treatment (apple cider vinegar)? The pharmaceutical industry requires it!
ACV with water seems to work.
My FIRST DAY of trying this after using Prilosec since its release many years ago!
I switched to Nexium recently but it gave me bad side effects!
The only negative about ACV is it damages tooth enamel - make sure to rinse after or brush your teeth!
After stumbling upon this site and reading many posts, I picked up a bottle of Braggs.
On day 3 of using I am a believer!!
My question is, for the ACV to work as it should, do I need to stop taking Pantaprazole?
Thanks for any help on this.
This is my third day taking ACV... it works.
I was on Nexium for the last three years. Any days without Nexium, I would feel the strong acid after drinking coffee with cream.
The ACV does help naturize the acidity.
Hi, I was diagnosed with GERD last Dec 30, 2013 because of the terrible chest pain which i experience. I rushed to the ER and all my heart test came out normal and they told me its GERD.
I took Tecta for 2 months but the symptoms of GERD still exist such us frequent and painful burping. I was really worried and tried reading lots of cure for acid reflux.
Though read about ACV, still I am hesitant to start using it because I was thinking its acidic.
A friend of mine told me that her husband is taking ACV and it works effectively. Since then I focus my research on ACV and how it cures Acid reflux.
Thanks to youtube , for making me realized the other cause of Acid reflux which is lack of acid to digest the food there by causing bacteria which produce gas that pushes the acid up causing acid reflux.
It was April 20, 2014 when i stop taking Tecta and started ACV. Thankfully until now I am feeling a lot better. Have slight acid reflux sometimes but over all I am fine.
I am also taking DGL tablet (Herbal) to strengthen my stomach and esophagus lining.. and had applied the 80-20 alkaline diet.
Guys start practicing 80% alkaline food and 20% acidic food diet per day... taking a lot of acidic food is the root cause of acid reflux and other kind of health problems.
I'm a health conscious person, but after eating a piece of chocolate cake on my birthday I had the worst heartburn ever. That night I tried Gaviscon (which did nothing) and then I gave in and tried one of my Dad's Nexium tablets, which worked.
But the next day (spot on 24 hrs after the tablet) it was back again. For four days I could barely eat (just a few steamed vegetables and some stewed fruit) as I tried in vain to re-alkalise my body with food.
One day, when I thought I was getting a bit better, I ate two pieces of gluten free toast and was in absolute agony! It was so disheartening...
As the week went on, (and after seeing my doctor who told me to take a Nexium tablet every day for 3 months) I turned to the internet to find what other people were saying. That's when I came across ACV.
Last night I took two teaspoons in a glass of water and did the same this morning. I'm still not eating starchy carbs, but I'm just so pleased not to be in pain! I just hope I can convince my Dad to take ACV and get off the daily Nexium that he depends on!
I also wanted to share that I'm a very strong believer in the relationship between our minds and bodies. Last night, I also read Louise Hay's "You Can Heal Your Life", which is my regular 'go to' when I need to sort something out in my life (physical or emotional). She suggests that heartburn is linked to Fear and that if you suffer from this condition, it's time to let go of whatever fear is in your gut and trust the process of life. I realized something that happened to me recently was probably the start of it all, so I decided to let it go and move forward.
While I was hopeful that ACV would work, I knew if I wanted to heal myself then I needed to address the root cause of the problem .. why I had manifested this dis-ease in the first place.
And all I can say is that I'm like a new person today. No pain, was able to eat a nutritious chia pudding breakfast and I just feel great!
Some of you have converted your thinking already ... from pharma-solution to natural-solution. I encourage you to take the next leap of faith and explore the mind - body relationship and free yourself of this debilitating condition forever.
Remember that our bodies are designed to heal! They want to heal!! We are made perfectly, so when something goes wrong, it's not sign to give in to a drug that will mask your symptoms, it's a sign to figure out WHY you got it in the first place so that you can truly heal!
To all those who posted before me, thank you for sharing your stories, it gave me the practical advice my doctor wouldn't!
In good health!
I am a believer. I take 2 tablespoons mixed with 6 to 8 oz. of water in the morning and then again in the late afternoon if I feel an onset.
My problem was pretty bad. Constant AR with choking in the middle of the night. Sometimes I thought I would pass out from lack of air when that would happen. I was getting worried that the Prilo and other OTC drugs were weakening. It was a constant battle to concentrate on daily routines.
Right now it's mid-morning and I hadn't thought about it until I was going through "bookmarks" and saw this page I saved.
Braggs cider is actually tasting like apples, Uh oh,.. am I getting addicted? Better that than the pains I was feeling.
I drive for work and add a couple tablespoons to a quart of water. I drink a lot of coffee and when I feel a little heartburn I drink a little while driving. I'm also a hot spicy food lover and I haven't changed my diet.
Thanks to all for this website. You all have by gratitude and best wishes that others will try this and benefit as I did.
I had heartburn and gas and bloating for a very long time.
I too went to the hospital and was diagnosed with GERD. The pain was terrible and terrifying. It went up my throat and across to my left arm. I too was put on Omaprazil.....I drank a lot of antacid liquids...even bought some from New Zealand ( the "barrier" kind) as well as Pepto, milk etc. and ice on my chest and throat. I ate antacids like candy. I slept sitting up and could not bend over.
It was all Hell. I quit coffee, alcohol, spicy foods, anything with tomato products, chocolate and greasy fried foods. I did lose some weight tho. I found Zegrid was the only thing to work...to stop the acid.
After I healed, which took months, I quit it. I read about the long term effects. But I still continued to use antacids and avoid the bad foods.....I found a coffee substitute and I still drink it. The GERD started up again after I became too lax....then I realized I needed to start drinking the ACV. It has so many other benefits also. And I started probiotics too.
Now I am fine and can have chocolate or alcohol, etc. on occasion. But I keep antacids in my purse and always take two after eating something bad. I cannot carry vinegar with me.....Once I tried baking soda mixed in water and a glass of milk after. I was on a trip and had nothing with me, but was in a bakery. Did not think to ask for the ACV!
Regular vinegar should be avoided. Organic ACV is the only one that becomes alkaline. Always mix it with water and honey....or apple juice. Keep using it even after you are healed. I know a lady that lost her voice for 6 months because it came back .....Some people get it a lot worse than others.
The Drug Companies are getting rich .....It is an epidemic! Tell your family and friends!! ACV and Probiotics and a little discipline....and try Cafix. Here's to ending GERD !!!
I'm 44 years old, had GERD for 25 years and on 60mg of Dexilent daily.
Dexilent DOES work for me, but it has side effects: Bone pain, aches, etc.
I did some reading on the long term damages of Omeprozole. I switched to 20mg Zegrid. Still relief, but not a cure.
Right before writing this, I took a table spoon of Bragg ACV and a gulp of water. Relief..!
Can it really be that simple..?
I'm so skeptical... But I cannot deny that this absolutely works. So, I will continue to experiment with ACV.
Doesn't taste great that's for sure..but it's only a tablespoon...I take it, and then chase it with water. Tastes like I drank an Easter egg coloring kit. LOL
Please try this remedy.
What's the worst thing that could happen..?
Happiness, relief, off drugs..?
Good luck to all of you...!
Brian
I suffered from Acid Reflux for way too long before I heard about ACV.
I use 8-10 ounces of Cranberry Grape juice mixed with 2 Tablespoons ACV and it works!
It has been 6 years since I took myself off my acid reflux prescription. I hardly ever have to take a Tums any more.
When I feel the slightest heartburn start to come on (which is very rare), I mix my grape juice and vinegar and I have no problems.
Yes. ACV really works.
I decided I would try it. Now I can sleep better.
Acid refux was my worst at night.
Try it!!!

I started having reflux problems 3 years ago.
I took Zantac (ranitidine) for 1 year and went to the maximum dose. When it was no longer working, I took several tests, but no sign of GERD.
I switched to Prevacid and took it for 6 months, eventually the GERD returned.
I felt better by avoiding the following foods: coffee, chocolate, peppers, and alcohol.
But I still needed to take Prevacid in the morning because unless I did, I was unable to sleep at night, even with my head elevated.
If I didn't take Prevacid in the morning, it didn't work . I also had to take Tums several times during the night.
Horrible!
I was told about ACV, I did not believe it but I tried anyway, I had nothing to lose. It actually works.
Thank you for this web site!
I suffered with acid reflux for over ten years.
Just 1 month ago I started using the apple cider vinegar and I do not have it anymore.
Apple Cider Vinegar Heartburn Treatment
Testimonial 26
Thank God for this website.
I was awakened tonight with Acid reflux and thought I was going to choke on it. Ugh!
30 minutes later I can finally get some sleep.
Braggs ACV is the truth!
Thanks to all of you!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!
I've been taking Prilosec for years. GERD seems to run in my family, too! A recent Dr. visit confirmed my fear that I've been on Prilosec too long. She said that even if I can skip it one day a week, it would bee beneficial.
Today was my first day without it, and it's been tough, worsening as the day progressed.
I came across this site and read every post. Hopeful, I decided to add some Agave and cinnamon to the ACV/water for starters. 15 minutes later and I notice some relief. I will buy the Bragg brand and transition away from the sweetener and cinnamon.
I'll post an update after a period of time. I would love to stop the Prilosec all together!
Thanks for all the info!!!
I have had for more than 20 years, Acid Reflux. Some so painful I would sit and cry trying to breathe.
One night I almost chocked to death. THEN AND ONLY THEN I decided I had to do something.
A GOOD FRIEND told me to drink ACV first thing in the morning. 1 teaspoon to 4 oz of water.
FELT THE FIRST RELIEF IN YEARS. Have been using it every since.
THANK GOD!
After reading all these comments, I am compelled to share my testimony regarding the use of ACV and hopefully help someone as I was.
I have been having acid reflux for the last two years and I have tried all the prescriptions one can think of. Luckily I came across this site and the comments just gave me hope.
I rushed to Spinneys and bought myself a bottle, I tried with one teaspoon before eating and the burning sensation on my oesophagus was unbearable because it was really eaten up by the acid. I started taking it with lemon water and after two days the sensation was completely gone and I could even take it concentrated without any problem.
I was healed. I continue taking it and I can testify it works.
Good luck to all who want to try ACV, it works!
I am a 49 year old male who has had acid reflux (GERD) for the last 25 years. As I have gotten older it has gotten worse.
When I was in my early 30's I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma due to the GERD. Needless to say over the last 25 years I have tried everything. I used to drink Mylanta like candy, tums and rolaids like there was no tomorrow, than buying other over the counter pills and meds.
Finally, I went to the doctor and got put on Omerprozol, that didn't work, next came Nexium which actually seemed to work at 40 dollars a month for 30 80mg pills. I didn't like the thought of putting those pills into my body for the rest of my life but had no idea what to do.
Then one night at the dinner table at my wife's parents house, the subject of acid reflux came up and my wife's brother was telling me about their cousin who had the same problems I did and was also at one time on Nexium but had switched to ACV. After hearing about how my wife's cousin swore about ACV and how much it helped and not having to be on Nexium I decided to give it a try.
I bought a bottle of Braggs ACV and am on my third day. On day two, I thought it may not work but seem to feel much better on day three and have read that my body is just transitioning off the Nexium.
I am hoping to not only be off the Nexium, but also the Symbicort too. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Will keep you posted as to my results.
Up until February of this year I could eat and drink what I wanted to without a care in the world. I'm 28.
Then one day, I started to get a "funny" taste in my mouth and realised it was acid reflux, something I had never had before.
Six months on I have suffered from stomach flu, panic attacks, back pain and continuous acid reflux. I attribute my panic attacks to the acid reflux and what is going on in my stomach (I suspect I've had a really bad bout of stomach flu which has left my insides in a sorry state).
I have tried Omeprazole, Ranitidine, Lansoprazole, Tums, Gaviscone.. the lot. These tablets make me dizzy and pretty rubbish. I've had an endoscopy which showed nothing. It seems I have GERD (nothing more serious thankfully) and am growing increasingly concerned for the state of my throat from all the acid.
I have discovered apple cider vinegar and it is a life saver. It works. It's instant. It's cheap and I love it more than life itself lol. It has given me my life back and I am very grateful for that.
The health service/patients could save so much money if doctors recommended this to patients.
WOW!
4 oz glass of Aloe Vera Juice and 3 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar, and BAM, my life is changed forever.
I get 1 gallon of Aloe Vera juice at Walmart for $7.44. Does anyone have any other recommendations on where to get the juice? Walmart only stocks 1-2 gallons and they are always out.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Aloe Vera Juice is the 1-2 punch to GERD.
My joints and bones hurt from the years of Prilosec.
HI, I've had bad reflux, for months.
I've been put on Nexium but it only got worse, burning in my chest.
I am one week on ACV and its true, the reflux is almost gone.
I take it in tablets twice a day.
Give it a go, it works!
Had bad reflux for years. Did tons of Tums, Gavison , all the over the counters. Was put on Nexium. Still got terrible attacks . Some lasting hours. Went to emergency once or twice was told was due to gallstones. But don't necessarily believe the doctors.
I started using ACV and it is as everyone else says. It works very quickly to stop the attacks. I should likely drink it before meals more and not so much when get an attack.
I usually carry a bottle in my car and have some in a small pill bottle sized container but problem with that is then wind up drinking it undiluted which I think is not so good maybe because its hard on your teeth?
I guess I could just premix a bottle of water, type of thing, and have that nearby.
Anyway it works and have not used Tums or Gaviscon, any prescription or non prescription meds for a long time. And have had very few attacks, none were 10/10 and most were stopped by the ACV in minutes . So to me ACV is miracle treatment.
I do still eat things that shouldn't sometimes.
Prescription drug taker for several years, attempting the move to ACV, on my third day. Here is my story.
I'm 32 years old and have been using anti-acids like Tums since high school. Through college and the first years of my career I continued poor eating/drinking habits and finally it got so bad I was actually waking in the middle of the night, choking on my own bile.
So finally with career backed health insurance I pursued gastro specialists and had tests. In the end, all they did was prescribe Omeprazole and while it did solve my problem, several years and a child later, and I'm concerned about my long term health and taking pills everyday for this.
My father and brother also have heartburn issues, so this is also in my genes. If I forget to take the pill, it doesn't matter what I eat or don't eat, I will get the feeling creeping back and by evening full fledged heart burn.
I've had a few friends try to turn me on to ACV before but of course I dismissed their claims and decided that a pill a day wasn't so bad. Of course this was also during the stage of my life where happy hour after work = 5 glasses of straight whiskey. As you can tell, healthy living wasn't my thing.
Well I finally came around after talking to an older man who successfully eliminated his heartburn and stomach ulcer issues by using ACV. And so I decided if it worked for someone like that, I had to try it out once my pills were gone.
Sunday night, I realized I hadn't taken my pill that morning as I began to have heartburn. Luckily we do our grocery shopping on Sunday's, so I finally had the heartburn to remind me to buy the ACV.
The first night I felt it worked pretty well, and I had no issues that night. The second day was a bit more rough, I needed some Tums here and there, and I think the pills were still leaving my system. The third day, this morning, I felt great before I took my morning dose of ACV, and then after I took it BAM! it burned the shit out of me and immediately caused me to have heartburn all the way to work, and I didn't even touch my coffee today as it sat on my desk getting cold. Needless to say, this was discouraging.... should ACV actually CAUSE me to have heartburn when I otherwise felt great?
After reading through about half of the comments here I came across one or two people who were trying to make the transition from pills to ACV, and I now realize that this can be difficult. We are used to having NO acid be produced due to our medication, and so this process of balancing our bodies again is bound to be painful.
I just got back from the store, buying a bottle of ACV for work, and some baking soda to drink as well if I am in too much pain (be cautious with the baking soda as it does produce a lot of gas when put in water, but is great at neutralizing the acid). I tried to dilute the ACV a bit more this time, and it went down a lot better. I would say if it is burning your throat at all, you have not diluted it enough.
So I guess my point is that if you are coming off those nasty medical pills, you are going to need more time. I was told by the "old man" that I needed to give it 6 weeks to be cured. Estimates on here seem much more aggressive as people seem to say 8 days, 10 days, etc before it works. But in the end of course, we are all different, and you have to also consider how many other life changes you are or are not making. Sodas, candy, whiskey, etc.
Too many people have had success to ignore the benefits of this remedy. If you are still in pain, like me, stick with it. I'm in day 3, and unsure about it all, but these comments and experiences from others have given me the strength to fight through it and really give it a chance.
Good luck to all of you, this is such a miserable and debilitating problem to have, and my heart goes out to those who are unable to enjoy their day or night due to GERD.

As far as I'm concerned, I suffered from acid reflux for several years.
I consulted a specialist and had two examinations of the esophagus a few years apart but nothing was found, except stomach acid on the walls of the esophagus.
My condition had reached the point where I was having severe seizures (very intense and painful esophageal pain) about 4-5 times a week while eating and each one lasted between 15 and 45 minutes.
The seizures were so intense that I could not swallow my saliva and it prevented me from catching my breath.
One day I went to a health food center and quite by chance, I talked about my case to a homeopath on the premises ... it was he who told me about apple cider vinegar and taking a dose of 1 tsp in 300 ml of water on an empty stomach in the morning.
It's been almost four months since, and I've only had two mini attacks that lasted about 10-15 seconds. I'll try drinking some ACV in the evening as well to completely eliminate any risk of seizures.
For me, apple cider vinegar is truly miraculous; it really works. I used to really fear the moment when a seizure would happen but now I can go to a restaurant without fear and when I'm at home, I'm no longer stressed before a meal.
I was diagnosed with GERD after my mother died in 1999. I weighed about 90 pounds and was able to eat saltine crackers and drink water - not a very healthy diet.
I had the usual tests and the doctor put me on one of the usual drugs. I took that one for several years and, when it no longer worked, I was put on another one.
After several more years I began to fall for no apparent reason - the last one scary enough for me to decide that I must do something myself.
I looked at the few drugs I was taking and saw that the Prevacid was one that caused dizziness. I decided that I had to do something or I was going to break a hip and be in serious trouble.
I went on the internet and read about acid reflux and what people were doing about it. One site was devoted to something called "Stop Acid Reflux" and I resolved to try it.
I left off the medication and tried it faithfully for two weeks, taking the cap full prescribed on the bottle every morning after breakfast. I had to dilute it in apple juice, of course.
After that amount of time, I began to feel normal - no more bumping into walls, no more falling. After about six months, I am still feeling normal, with no acid reflux. When I feel something abnormal in my stomach, I just take a Tums to be on the safe side.
This method has worked for me so far and I am grateful for all the comments that people have made. I would not have tried something so seemingly contrary to reason as to take and acid to relieve an acid, but it has worked for me.

I have been suffering with stomach pain for 3 years. I only have heartburn when pregnant or I eat certain foods.
A friend told me about ACV. I only had the grocery store brand, like Heinz, so I used 2 tablespoons with water. The pain was gone in less than an hour.
Like so many others, what started out with Tums, moved to Zantac, then Zantac 150 then a prescription and the pain kept creeping back. I have been pain free for 2 weeks.
I read you should use the unfiltered ACV so after 2 weeks I tried Bragg ACV. In 1 day I was in so much pain again. I don't know why. After nearly 20 hours of constant pain, I used the grocery store brand ACV and the pain was gone in less than an hour.
My advice is don't give up after 1 try. Try different brands. This stuff works!!
I have been using ACV for the last 3 days and I am a new person.
I have severe GERD and was even losing my voice due to the damage done by the acid reflux. I am feeling so much better now!
My husband has started using it too.
Muuuch better than using meds!!!
I have had heartburn since I was young and used to live on Rolaids and more recently Acid Reducer Pills. Attacks were frequently during the day and almost always at night.
I had heard about taking Apple Cider Vinegar, but it just didn't make sense to me until a trusted friend who is a health nut and an RN, told me exactly how ACV works and it finally made sense.
So I tried it, three days ago, and I have not had a single episode of heartburn since.
I'm sure those blood sucking Pharmaceutical companies don't want to hear this, but I won't be supporting them anymore.
For over 2 years I was taking Zantac and needed it more, more, more like many others on here.
A lot of it had to do with my diet but Zantac is a dangerous crutch in my opinion and makes you need it. Eventually it didn't matter what I ate, I would get indigestion especially late at night constantly waking up at 4 a.m. with horrible indigestion.
My wife (a natural doctor) had told me dozens of times to start taking ACV but I thought I knew better and thought she was crazy. I did try ACV a couple of times but I think my stomach was so jacked up it would make me vomit everything immediately because it was such a shock for my stomach.
So I used Zantac for a few years to the point where I needed it every day, I decided I needed to try something different as the route other people went taking Nexium and even higher doses of Zantac couldn't be the solution.
I found this forum and first started with baby steps of taking ACV.
First I started with 8oz of water and about 2 teaspoons of ACV a few times during the day and one before bed. Initially it was really difficult to stomach but I held it down. I definitely saw an immediate change in my stomach acid levels and my reflux. Over a week or so I eventually worked my way up to 2TABLESPOONS and 8oz of water. I started to notice the more ACV I took the better I felt and the less symptoms I'd have at night.
I had cured my daytime acid reflux but still had night time.
Finally, I decided to try ACV and do just 2 tablespoons (no water) before bed, now, 3 days later I have no night time waking for reflux which had been causing sleep interruption for 2-3months. It's really a miracle, I thought I was going down the road to getting cancer of the esophagus, this product is amazing!
I am living in Afghanistan and here we have less professional medical help, that sucks though..
I have been having acid reflux or heart burn that doesn't bother me much in the stomach but my tongue and mouth burns so bad sometimes that I get fed up.
I have purchased apple cider vinegar tablets recently and hope this helps.
Does anyone have any other ideas on how to cure this lousy pain?
Thank you so much.
After a 15 THOUSAND dollar hospital bill from the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack or possibly had a blood clot in my lungs, I found out that I had adult onset asthma from GERD.
I had X-rays, CT scan, EKG, angiogram, and every blood test you could think of and all they found was gallstones. I spent the next week on Symbicort, Ventolin, Nasonex, and Prevacid.
I was in my bed for days, not able to breathe in deeply and I KNEW I was dying. I thought every short breath I managed to take was my last. I even began to "talk" to my kids about my insurances, etc... I can't fully communicate the terror I was going through.
I came across this site while desperately searching for an answer to why this happened to me. I read about the ACV and thought to myself, if it doesn't work; I am going to need to go back to the hospital and demand they put me on oxygen.
I went and got Bragg's ACV, put 2 tablespoons in a glass of water, drank it down, and immediately my stomach deflated and I could breathe! What a miracle!
I am still sore from weeks of suffering but each day with the ACV gets better for me. I am off the inhalers and stopped the Prevacid. Big Pharma can go to h*ll!
I stumbled across this site a few months ago. I have been on prescription Prilosec for 6 years and it wasn't helping anymore.
I read about all the bad side effects from being on that medicine and was scared of the damage it might be doing to me.
I really didn't think this would work---I mean, it really defies all logic---taking an acid to control acid......but, I was desperate. I stopped taking my Prilosic, and tried it before a meal. It worked, but only for a few hours. I kept taking the ACV with water before all meals, and also before bedtime. I began to get discouraged that it wasn't "lasting"....but that all changed after the 8th day.
I have been using this for a little over a month now and only have to take it ONCE every few days. It's a miracle. I'm so happy I have broken the cycle of suffering on those medications.
If you don't get relief right away, please keep trying for at least 10 days. It will work--it just takes time, especially if you have it really bad like I did.
Good luck!!!
And a HUGE thank you to all of you that wrote testimonials. It encouraged me to try it.
PS The stuff tastes NASTY---but the results are worth it.
A couple of months ago I was experiencing heartburn and had an Upper GI Endoscopy performed.
Findings were a small hiatal hernia and Gerd. Some biopsies were taken from my esophagus as there was some red areas. Biopsies turned out ok with no Barrett's. Dr recommended to take 30mg Lanzoprazole daily.
Currently taking and then came across this website. I immediately bought me a bottle of Bragg ACV and started taking right before every meal (2 tsps + 8oz water) and once about 2-3 hrs before bed time.
Presto, it worked! Immediately reduced heartburn in chest. Though at night I often feel a sore throat. Think its from stomach acid traveling back to esophagus. Started using a wedge pillow for this.
Has anyone with a hiatal hernia felt completely cured at night by taking ACV, and QUIT taking PPI's for longer than a couple of months?

Hi,
I have suffered so much in my life because of my heartburn!
I have tried all types of medicines but nothing has cured me.
Thanks to God, apple cider vinegar has relieved the pain of my severe heartburn.
They told me to use: 1 capful of vinegar + 1 half glass of water + 1 tablespoon of pure honey + a pinch of cinnamon.
After taking that, I had a very good night. Thank you very much my God!

Apple cider vinegar has changed my life. I was suffering from stomach pain after every meal. Eating was an ordeal, every night I was waking up with excruciating pain to vomit acid.
This had a big impact on my psychological state and my overall health.
I had tried everything but no drug had cured me or brought me relief.
One day, following one more sleepless night because of the pain, I decided to try ACV as a home remedy.
The pain disappeared instantly, it was like magic.
I haven’t had any stomach problems since, even though I was resigned never to experience this feeling again!
This product is just a miracle of nature.
I started taking apple cider vinegar about a month ago to deal with my acid reflux. Prior to that I was on Prilosec.
The first two weeks off of Prolosec were tough. I was taking many doses of ACV to combat the reflux but now after about a month I take it once or twice a day. Always before bed and sometimes earlier in the day if I notice symptoms.
I am so glad to be off of Prilosec and notice that I feel much better. I have also lost 7 pounds. Part of that is changing my diet a bit.
Overall I encourage anyone taking Prilosec to give this a chance.
